Dell Alienware AW3423DWF full review

The Alienware AW3423DWF from Dell has emerged as the top-performing OLED monitor in our testing. It's worth noting that if we were to go back before the recent firmware update, the DWF wouldn't have claimed the number one spot due to its previous HDR accuracy shortcomings. However, the current iteration of the monitor has made significant strides, making a compelling case for itself, especially when considering our preference for the ultrawide format.

The performance of the Alienware monitor is truly impressive, boasting a plethora of strengths and very few weaknesses. It delivers exceptional HDR and SDR performance, a testament to the quality of its QD-OLED panel. From excellent brightness and rapid speed to minimal input latency and, now, notably improved HDR accuracy, the monitor covers a wide range of impressive features. Furthermore, it offers a highly effective sRGB mode, an array of well-rounded port options, a discreet and quiet fan, the convenience of firmware upgrades, and a robust three-year burn-in warranty, among its numerous attributes.

However, what has truly set the DWF apart is its competitive pricing strategy. Despite packing in a rich assortment of hardware and features, the Alienware monitor comes in at an accessible price point with an MSRP of $1,100, and occasional sales bringing it down to $1,000. While acknowledging that the Samsung OLED G8 does hold certain advantages in terms of design and display processing hardware, the price differential of $200 to $300 is quite substantial, especially considering the relatively marginal discrepancy in overall quality. Dell has undeniably achieved a triumph with the DWF model. While it did take some time, roughly six months, to refine the firmware to meet expectations, consumers who invest in this product will undoubtedly find themselves highly content with their choice.
